The Thailand 50 Baht banknote was issued by the Government of Thailand in 1996 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Rama IX’s accession to the throne on June 9, 1946. The obverse of this blue banknote features Bhumibol Adulyadej in a uniform, the Royal Garuda emblem, the emblem of the Chakri Dynasty depicting a chakra (discus) and a trisula (trident), and the royal ceremonial emblem of the Golden Jubilee with a crown flanked by elephants. The reverse side depicts the coat of arms of Thailand, the signature of Rama VII, the Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall within the Royal Dusit Palace in Bangkok, the statue of a seated Rama VII modeled after the monument in front of the National Parliament building in Bangkok, and the Royal Garuda emblem. The note does not contain a security thread but bears a watermark with a shadow image of Rama IX. It measures 144 mm x 72 mm and is printed on polymer. This commemorative banknote is in uncirculated condition.
