The Sri Lanka 500 Rupees Banknote was issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka in 2013. The purple banknote bears English, Sinhala, and Tamil text. Its obverse features the World Trade Center and the Bank of Ceylon headquarters buildings in Colombo, a Ceylon indigo royal butterfly, the ancient Buddhist temple Lankathilaka Viharaya in Kandy. It also shows a Sri Lanka emerald-collared parakeet bird and a lion holding a whip with a sword. The reverse is in a vertical orientation and features a Yak Bera drummer and Thelme Netuma dancer, a Padmanidhi guard stone, and a stylized Dvithva liya vela floral motif. The banknote contains a 2-mm wide red-to-green StarChrome windowed security thread with demetallized CBSL RS 500. It also has a watermark that reveals a parakeet with an electrotype 500 and Cornerstones. The note is 143 x 67 mm in size. This particular banknote is in uncirculated condition.
